To celebrate 10 years of the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf (NMMOG), we’re inviting local bakers and dessert makers to join our community Bake-Off Competition — part of a major celebration weekend with over 2,000 attendees expected. NMMOG has hosted hundreds of weddings, galas, and public events in our event venues, and we know how often our guests ask for local bakery recommendations. This event is a chance for you to get in front of a large and diverse audience, show off your work, and promote your business — while helping us celebrate.

Business Promo

This is a great opportunity to reach potential customers and event clients.
Feel free to bring:

• Business cards
• Menus, flyers, or order forms
• A QR code for your social media or ordering platform
• Branded signage or table décor

Judging Criteria

Your entry should in some way tie into a nautical or marine theme. Examples: think ocean waves, anchors, ships, flags, toppers, sea creatures, lighthouses, sand, starfish, shells or anything of the kind.  

You may submit cupcakes, brownies, cookies, tarts, a whole cake. Feel free to get creative with your decorations, flavors, or presentation we want to see your imagination! 

Serving Size: 

Please bring enough for 5 servings to be judged. 
You are not expected to feed the full museum crowd. (We encourage you to bring small promo samples for public tasting for promotion of your business along with promotional items (banners, business cards.) 

Your baked item will be judged in three categories, each scored out of 10 points: 

Taste & Texture (10 points) 

• Is it moist, flavorful, balanced? 

• Does the texture match the type of baked good?
   

Theme & Presentation (10 points) 

• Does your design reflect the nautical theme? 

• Is it creative, eye-catching, and well-executed? 
  
  

Creativity & Originality (10 points) 

• Did you think outside the box? 

• Are your flavor pairings or design ideas unexpected and exciting? 

• Captain’s Choice – Best Overall Design & Theme 

• Tidal Twist – Most Creative Entry 

• Dockside Delight – Best Flavor & Texture 

Winners will receive sponsored prizes, public recognition, and mentioned on the museum’s social media account of 13,000 followers.
