The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico has 8 “decks” that are home to over 80 immersive exhibits covering a wide range of maritime topics. You’ll dive deep into famous shipwrecks, Atlantic slave trade, the Civil War and World War II, early settlements and trade routes, marine archeology, catastrophic hurricanes, maritime commerce and shipbuilding, navigation, offshore oil and gas platforms and much more. And while you’re here don’t miss the opportunity to step out on one of our balconies and enjoy the tremendous views of the Mobile River and the Port of Mobile. You may even be able to get a wave and a honk from a tugboat as it passes by!

TRAVELING EAST ON I-10

When approaching downtown Mobile, take Exit 26A (Canal Street) on the right. At the end of the exit ramp, veer right onto Water Street. Proceed for two blocks to Monroe Street. The entry to The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico parking lot is on the right, across the railroad tracks.

TRAVELING WEST ON I-10

After passing through the Wallace Tunnel, take Exit 26B (Water Street) on the right. Proceed to Government Street, turn left on Government Street, then left on Royal Street, then left on Monroe Street. The entry to The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico is straight ahead across the railroad tracks.

TRAVELING SOUTH ON I-65

Proceed south on I-65 South and take exit 9 for I-165 South toward Prichard/Downtown Mobile. Continue on I-165 South until it turns into Water St. Veer right at the I-10 on ramp staying on Water St. Turn left at Monroe St. and cross over Water St. and the railroad tracks into The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico parking lot.

PARKING

Free parking is available at The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico and across Water Street, under the overpass. Additional paid parking is available in the parking lot next to the convention center.
