What's New
GOMESA Grant
This past year has been a period of growth and transformation. One of our most significant achievements is the receipt of a generous grant from GOMESA that will allow us to develop a 3,000 square foot interactive exhibit focusing on the Mobile Tensaw Delta. This state-of-the-art exhibit promises to help our guests understand the ecological significance of this unique region in a way that has never been done before.
Combat to Commerce
We are delighted to announce the opening of our latest exhibit, “Combat to Commerce,” which debuted August 28. This exhibit features 14 exquisitely detailed ship models and explores their significant roles in the history of the Gulf of Mexico. “Combat to Commerce” is free with admission and is the first of many additions to the museum that will bring the dynamic past of Mobile Bay to life.
They Come Big
Another in this series of local history exhibits, will be the Summer 2026 opening of “They Come Big; the History and Stories of the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.” This exhibit will highlight the rich lore and excitement of one of the Gulf’s most treasured traditions.
Renovations
We also have planned renovations for our event spaces. These improvements will provide more flexible and dynamic spaces for events, making our museum an even more vibrant community hub.
Our Vision
Our vision for the coming year is to continue expanding our educational programs, growing our events business, enhancing our guest experiences, and strengthening our connection with the community.
